Monroe-Woodbury teen pleads guilty

I originally posted about these plastic Molotov cocktails here.

They were made by a 15-year-old from Monroe, New York who plotted an attack against Monroe-Woodbury High School. Also in his possession was a machete and some propane tanks.

The kid hadn't even attended the school since 2008. He claims that he was bullied because he bore a resemblance to Columbine shooter Eric Harris.

Anyway, he has pleaded guilty to five felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and will be sentenced on March 24th. Part of his plea will keep him for 18 months in a psychiatric facility.

Too bad it won't be a place like Shutter Island. Loved that movie.

Weir High Plot

Top Stories of 2009: Pair Awaiting Trial For Plot on School:

The dude with the reverse Hare Krishna haircut is 19-year-old Mark Mentzer formerly of Weir High School in Weirton, West Virginia. I say formerly because he was arrested back in September for plotting an attack against the school.

back then a bunch if text messages started going around the school saying something big was going to happen. Police were able to trace the original texts back to Mentzer. When they searched his home they found unidentified weapons, bomb making material and also racist writings that said things like "Keep America white. Don't give up the fight. Join the KKK."

When Mentzer was arrested they also found a suicide note on him that said...

"If you are reading this it is most likely that I have died I will miss you all it is most likely that I have died for my beliefs. I just hope my and my brothers blood is not shed in vein I believe what Im doing is right and for the benefeit of my people. It is not a selfish egotistical act I am acting on it isn't about me or my brothers for we do not matter it is our children - and the children I am worried about if we do not stop what's (sic) happening we will have no more pride we will all be one giant mix of gods knows what."

Before I go on it's time for a little history lesson. West Virginia broke away from Virginia during the Civil War in part because of the slavery issue. That's right kids. Wst Virginia was a Union State. However in the 20th century that must have been left out of their state history lessons since they keep re-electing a 1000 year old Klansmen to Congress. Now before you get your corn squeezins in a bunch I am not saying that everyone from West Virginia is like that but there are enough of them that this really comes as no surprise to me.

Anyway back to the story at hand.

There were two others arrested but as far as I can tell they were more supporters of Mentzer then cohorts.

Apparently the bad apple doesn't fall too far from the poison tree either as his mom was arrested at the time the search warrant was served for obstructing officers. She was also given probation for giving Mentzer steroids when he was 17. That's just lovely. Nothing, liked a jacked up racist hick.

As usual with these stories we also have an unintentionally funny defense attorney...

Mentzer's attorney, Fred Risovich, called his client "a very stupid kid who has very stupid ideas" - ideas, he stressed, that are not illegal.

He further argued that the "explosive materials" were household items not intended for any threatening purpose, and the alleged map of the school was completely unrecognizable as such, he said. The so-called "suicide note" found upon Mentzer's arrest, Risovich said, was a note his client wrote because he was afraid those he offended with his white supremacist views would seek retribution.

Being in West Virginia I imagine that Mr. Risovich would be familiar that household items are also commonly used to make meth so an explosive is not far out of the realm of possibility. As far as the note defense goes that is a complete joke. Why else would he say that it is not a selfish egotistical act that he is acting on?

If he doesn't get put away at trial they'll just have to put him away later for some hate crime or being at an ATF raided compound.

Schallenberger sentenced

SC teen gets 10 years in school attack plot:

You remember Ryan Schallenberger don't you? He was the teen who had ammonium nitrate sent to his house so he could blow up Chesterfield High School in South Carolina.

Another part of his plan was that he would die so he could go kill Jesus.

This past week he was sentenced to 10 years at the Federal Medical Center in Butner, N.C. Schallenberger has allegedly turned his life around with the proper psychiatric treatment.

Monroe-Woodbury High Plot

Teen accused of plotting attack at Monroe-Woodbury on Columbine anniversary:

I've been sitting on this story for about a week because I thought they'd release the little punk's name by now but they haven't so I carry on.

Anyway, an unnamed 15-year-old male from Monroe, New York has been arrested on charges of plotting an attack against Monroe-Woodbury High School.

Guess when he planned the attack for. Yep, the usual. April 20th and for the usual reasons.

When police searched his home they found Molotov cocktails (pictured), a machete, and three propane tanks. And guess what, his parents had no idea what he was planning. This is starting to become so repetitious that these stories are starting to blend together in my head.

The motive is the usual too. He claims he was bullied (boo-hoo). He said the reason he was bullied was because he bears a resemblance to Columbine killer and scumbag coward Eric Harris. Considering they found a trench coat in the kids possession I wonder if that was what made people notice that he looked like Harris.

The kid is known to police since he was picked up in January on an unidentified charge.

Now here's the best part. The kid actually hasn't attended Monroe-Woodbury since 2008. Any rational person would have let go of whatever hatred he had for the previous school. Not this kid though.

Kids, there's a lot worse things than bullying. Jail is one of them death is the other.

Mass. Bombing Plot Foiled

You know. It's been a long time since I've written a worthwhile post. Sometimes that's a good thing because it means that things aren't too fucked up in my world. Then I read that police in Massachusetts foiled a plot in which three high school students planned to bomb their high school and shoot fleeing teachers and students as they escaped the building.

In an article that I read on Yahoo they state that police were tipped off by the school janitor who found the plans outlying the attack. Police found in the suspects' homes shotgun shells, bomb making instructions, knives, flares, and pictures of themselves with weapons. Of course the word Columbine was thrown around once or twice and with good reason.

When I read this article at the BostonHerald.com they said this....

"McKeehan, who often dressed in Marilyn Manson T-shirts and a long, black trenchcoat with choke-collar chains, had shaved the sides of his head and wore his hair pulled back in a ponytail, which he frequently dyed different colors, said Kimball and a neighbor, who didn't want to be identified."

Here we go again. Look, when I was 17 I wore a black trenchcoat, had long hair and wore Ozzy t-shirts but I never threatened to blow up a school. But this case goes way beyond that. Apparently the lead suspect, Eric McKeehan, had fits of violence. It seems he was estranged from his family and that his parents did not want anything to do with him. One of the other juvenile suspects allegedly has ADD and was distraught over his fathers death from cancer. Boo freakin' hoo. We've all had a rough life. Some rougher than others. But this is still no excuse to plot the deaths of dozens if not hundreds.

And in this article from the Boston Globe Online the mother of one of the suspects, who took in the other two suspects prior to the arrests, denies everything. She says that the shotgun shells were from a hunting trip. And that the kids were "gentle" and "misunderstood". Then the article goes on to say...

"She said the students may have made some threats, but that they never really intended to hurt anybody."

Excuse me? People who are gentle and misunderstood do not make threats to kill others. Sounds to me like another case of "not my kid". People just do not want to take responsibility for any of their actions. Is this what we've become as a nation. Should the nation's motto be "it's not my fault"? Suck it up America. Be responsible and keep a better eye on your kids.

As always it was your pleasure.
