PHILADELPHIA—A school counselor suffering an apparent heart attack died in a Philadelphia emergency room after waiting nearly 80 minutes for help -- and a trio of homeless drug addicts nearby stole his watch instead of seeking aid, police said.

Joaquin Rivera, 63, died before seeing a triage nurse at Atria Health's Frankford Campus over the weekend, police said.

Rivera, a musician and activist in the city's Latino community, had spent more than 30 years working as a bilingual counselor at an inner-city high school.

Rivera had walked to the Northeast Philadelphia hospital late Saturday from his home a few blocks away after pain started shooting down his right side. He registered at 10:45 p.m. and took a seat, chatting for about 20 minutes with two men and a woman nearby.

Based on witness accounts, police believe Rivera passed out about an hour later. Security video then shows one of the men steal his watch and briefly pass it to the other.

The second suspect is then seen by doctors, and a security guard arrives to ask his sleeping companions to leave. A witness first reports that Rivera may be dead.

At 12:04 a.m., he is pronounced dead.

Aria Health offered condolences to the family Tuesday but otherwise declined comment, citing patient confidentiality and the pending criminal case.

McGinnis describes the three suspects as homeless drug addicts. Police arrested one of them, 44-year-old Richard Alten, at the hospital and are searching for the others.

Detectives have seen the video footage, but Aria Health had not yet produced a copy for them, McGinnis said. Police hope to publicize it to find the missing pair.

A preliminary ruling suggests Rivera died of hypertension. He is survived by his wife and three children.

A 24-year-old woman who went for some late-night takeout Thursday night was accosted by six men who forced her into a nearby apartment building, where they raped her until her screams prompted someone to call for help, police said.

According to Lt. Frank Vanore, a police spokesman, the woman went to a Chinese restaurant on Walnut Street near 56th about 10:45 p.m.

"Six unknown males came in and started to grab her and fondle her," Vanore said.

The men, ranging in age from 16 to 52, followed the woman out of the restaurant and forced her to go to a nearby apartment, where she was raped by all six, Vanore said.

The suspects were identified by police as Nicholas Glenn, 18; Nyair Washington, 19; Timothy Manley, 22; Teddy Mack, 22; and Michael Garrison, 52. The sixth suspect, a 16-year-old boy, was not identified because of his age.

The suspects face charges of rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and related offenses, Vanore said.

The woman's screams for help prompted a neighbor to call police, who arrested all six men.

Six points for each suspect, 36 points for the age difference between the youngest suspect to the oldest, another point for the 16-year-old was either not with or with their supposed guardian, 6 more points for each rape. That's 49.

PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A 15-year-old girl was stabbed, beaten, set on fire and thrown into a river, and four acquaintances were charged with murder, authorities said.

The killers of Christine Marie Ham lured her to a small park behind a public housing complex in southwest Philadelphia on Saturday and attacked her, authorities said. Police said she was still alive when she was thrown into the Schuylkill River and managed to crawl out, but bled to death on the shore.

I really wish that the punishment would fit the crime.

Second Arrest in Snowball Fight That Led to Girl's Shooting:

So not only does a guy shoot at a crowd because his daughter was hit in the face with a snowball but his wife was driving the car he was shooting from. That's some serious escalation to go from snowballs to lead. I think iceball and rock come first. But what self respecting married couple think that shooting people for hitting their daughter with a snowball is a good idea? Civilization is definitely coming to an end, only not soon enough.

Even more proof that we as a race do not deserve to exist. So a girl gets into a scuffle with some other girls that were having a snowball fight. She takes one on the melon. Goes home. Tells Dad. Who gets in his car drives to where the other children are,...wait for it.....and opens fire striking a 10 year old girl in the head with a bullet.
