Stupid law catches stupid sex offender
Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 9:07PM You know, I do complain about laws that require sex offenders to give up their e-mail addresses because I feel it doesn't really do anything to really address the problem of sexual predators on social sites. However they do snag the occasional idiotic sex offender.
For example take 52-year-old Ernest Welton Bellotte of Austin, Texas.
In 1995, Bellotte was convicted and sentenced to four years in prison for attempt to commit sexual assault; sentenced to 10 years for attempt to commit indecency with a child by sexual contact; and sentenced to 17 years for indecency with a child by sexual contact. All three convictions were rendered in Travis County.
Of course this being the land of the irresponsible it seems like he didn't serve his full sentence.
But now he's going back to jail for violating his parole by having profiles on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
