Jacksonville air conditioning contractor busted over installing stolen units:

Contractor Kimble Starr Butler of Jacksonville, Fla. who ran a business called K and R Cooling advertised on craigslist promising low rates. The reason his rates were so low is because he was allegedly installing stolen air conditioners.

Shots Fired After Craigslist Meeting:

In Overland Park, Kansas 21-year-old Brian Hurt, who may or may not have been driver/security for a craigslist prostitute, was arrested for firing shots into the apartment of a man his female partner just visited. Again this shows that prostitution is still happening on craigslist, not to mention that getting a hooker is inherently risky in more ways than one.

Authorities warn job-seekers of ‘ABS Solutions’ advertising on Craigslist:

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is warning people about a work at home scam from a company that advertises on craigslist called ABS Solutions. It’s just another variant of the fake check scam. If you get a check from them do not cash it but do inform your local law enforcement.

Charges mount for Monroe man accused of stealing ATVs:

Dateline: Monroe County, Georgia…

William Lewis Merrian, 37, is accused of stealing 13 four wheelers, one EZ-Go Golf Cart, four riding lawn mowers, yard tools and a utility type trailer from areas in Georgia and Alabama.

He’s also accused of trying to sell the items on craigslist.

Man Arrested For Pimping Of A Child In Aurora:

Police in Aurora, Colorado arrested two men in connection with a child being pimped out on backpage.

Backpage is a craigslist competitor that is owned by Village Voice Media that has not come under the havy scrutiny that craigslist has. It should because it’s where all the craigslist hookers and pimps are going now to advertise their wares.

Anyway police arrested 24-year-old Bobby James Doss for pimping out a runaway underage girl from Texas on backpage. Also arrested was 37-year-old Brett Alan Coffman who was trying to use the girl’s services.

Now let’s wait and see if the politicians will follow suit along with the pimps and hookers to backpage. Something tells me it will take another case like the murder of Julissa Brisman for that to happen.

The RCMP is reporting that girls as young as 16 from North Vancouver, British Columbia are being pimped out on craigslist. Some are prostituting themselves while others are being pimped out by guys in their 20s. Some are even advertising special rates for sex without a condom.

Man accused of posing as police officer, raping woman:

In what seems to be a recurring theme a man has been arrested, this time in Charlotte, NC, for impersonating a police officer in order to rape a woman who posted an ad on craigslist.

42-year-old Wayne Ford allegedly met a woman who posted an ad on craigslist at the Comfort Inn and Suites in the University section of Charlotte. When the woman opened the door Ford allegedly produced a gun and badge and told the woman that she would either consent to the assault or he would arrest her. That leads me to believe that the woman may have posted an ad on the adult services section.

Not only does Ford have a history of public indecency charges but he’s also been charged in a similar situation where a woman from craigslist was robbed in much the same manner. Being somewhat familiar with Charlotte’s revolving door jail I’m not surprised that Ford was out on the streets.

However this story should serve as a warning to the women who think that working through craigslist is safer than walking the streets. It isn’t.

Oscar Winner Joseph Brooks Indicted For Rape:

I originally posted about Joe, now Joseph, Brooks here. He’s the guy who won an Oscar for writing the Debby Boone hit “You Light Up My Life”. If that wasn;t crime against humanity enough he was also arrested back in January for allegedly drugging and raping aspiring actresses that responded to his ad on craigslist.

Now Brooks has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury for allegedly raping or sexual assaulting 11 women.

Also indicted was Brooks’ personal assistant Shawni Lucier for criminal facilitation for allegedly assisting Brooks in set up the assaults. Give that guy an A in lackeyness but an F for all around humanity.

I originally posted about Toda Robinson here (3rd story down). He’s the man from Seatte, Washington who was arrested back in January for pimping out underage girls. Originally he was only facing charges in King County but back in April a federal grand jury handed down an indictment on child sex trafficking.

In a loud voice, Markoff pleads ‘not guilty’:

Philip Markoff, the accused killer of craigslist masseuse Julissa Brisman, was indicted on seven counts including first-degree murder. An emotionless Markoff entered a very vocal plea of not guilty.

Another detail that emerged today was that Markoff allegedly used the stolen driver’s license of a New York man to illegally purchase the gun that he used to kill Julissa Brisman. The man who the license belonged to is not believed to have any connection to the crime.

Craigslist rape case may cause legal hurdles:

More information has been released about Rodney Liverman, the man accused of raping a Kannapolis, NC woman whose husband arranged the rape through craigslist.

Last fall he broke up with his common law wife in Minneapolis, MN. She was able to get a restraining order against him claiming abuse. The pair have two children ages 9 and 12.

Kannapolis police are also saying that from the e-mails between Liverman and the husband that there is no question that Liverman knew he was committing rape and not participating in a role play.

According to the article from local station WCNC some local legal experts believe that due to the strangeness of this case not only is there a good chance that Liverman could actually beat the charges but that some other rules that are normally followed in rape cases, such as the victim’s past, could potentially be thrown out the window.

What I think the legal experts are forgetting though is the people of Cabarrus County that would more than likely be sitting on this jury. For the most part these would be down to earth people who have a very basic sense of right and wrong.
